The reproductive performance of purebred Pietrain and first litter produced from Pietrain boars to Yorkshire, Duroc and Hampshire sows was evaluated. The date were adjusted to sow-litter equivalent bases. The pietrain sows farrowed an average of 9.73 pigs including 0.63 pig born dead; they averaged 8.05 pigs at weaning and 89.60% weaning based on pigs born alive and 83.50% weaning based on total pigs born. The average days interval between weaning to conception and interval between two consecutive farrowings were 38.55 and 194.36, respectively. Over all, the average reproductive performance of the Pietrain compared favorably with the other breeds. There were some improvements in most traits associated with sow productivity for the crossbred Pietrain litters compared with their maternal breeds.
