Studies have shown that there is higher yield of barley and wheat if they are sown using a narrow drill seeder. Thus, the Agricultural Mechanization Institute, the National Institute of RNAM [Regional Network for Agricultural Machinery] in the Republic of Korea, developed a four-row barley seed drill. It is attached to a power tiller with a spacing of 20 cm. With this seeder, seedbed preparation, seedling and covering the seeds with soil can be done in one pass. The amount of seeds sown and the depth of seeding are done uniformly. The operator can also easily view the seedling operation. The barley seed drill has a working performance of 43 min per 10 area, which is about 50% more efficient than the furrow covering machine. It is also 60% cheaper than the furrow covering machine.
