The effect of fungicide to control Cercospora leaf spot was determined on mungbean crop with good and poor establishment. The crop was grown in two fields, one where the growth and development of the bean was good and the other where the crop was stunted and with leaf chlorosis. Regardless of crop stand, the disease severity and incidence were significantly lower in plants sprayed with the fungicide than those in check plot. In plots with poor plant establishment, infection level was similar in sprayed and unsprayed plants, but at seed maturity stage fungicide-sprayed plants had more leaves left than the unsprayed plants. The yield in plots with good crop stand was higher than yield in plots with poor crop stand. The yield difference between sprayed and unsprayed plants was significant only in plots with good stand. It is therefore practical to apply fungicide for Cercospora leaf spot control on mungbean planted before rice, provided that the crop has a good stand.
