dela Cruz, J.H. | Calvo, A.F. (Southern Mindanao Univ., Kabacan, Cotabato (Philippines))
The development of leaves of immature lanzones improved after two applications of nitrogen at 25 to 100 g per tree. Leaves increased by 8.4 to 7.7 per tree after three months from the second application of 25 and 100 g nitrogen per plant, in comparison to 5.1 leaves of the control. The longest leaflets which measured 23.2 cm, 23.5 cm, and 24.4 cm three months after application of nitrogen was obtained from plants applied with 25, 50, and 75 g N per plant, respectively. The width of leaflets was widest with the application of 75 g N with a mean of 10.1 cm. The widest leaf area per tree was obtained from plants applied with 100 g N giving a mean of 2.82 sq.m. The height and stem diameter increments were not significantly affected by the application of nitrogen at the rates stated above
