Direct and reciprocal crosses between two genotypes (IPB Var 1 and Lagkitan) of Zea mays ssp. mays, Z.m. ssp mexicana and Z. dilpoperennis were used in the study. Seventeen selected agromorphological characters were studied to confirm the cytogenetic differences between the species. Futhermore, the inheritance of the desirable characters from the two wild relatives to the cultivated maize were also studied. Segregation of F2 and backcross populations indicate that the selected agromorphological traits are each controlled by multigene systems
