Numerical tidal model for the Southeast Asian seas

The tidal propagation in the Southeast Asian Seas is described via a high-resolution, two-dimensional hydrodynamics model by the equilibrium tide and co-oscillating tide at the Straits. Computed tidal distribution of four major semi-diurnal tides (M2, S2, K2, N2) and four major diurnal tides (K1, O1, P1, Q1) are presented and results are compared with coastal observations archived in the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) global tidal database (Canadian Marine Environmental Data Service) and existing tidal charts including Schwiderski Global Ocean Tidal Data (GOTD) maps
