The Bagong Buhay Resettlement in Palayan City, Nueva Ecija [Philippines] was assessed to determine the complexities of the resettlement process, its outcomes, viability, and implications to serve as basis for future resettlement planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The resettlement process involved the following stages: 1) Planning and Site Acquisition; 2) Screening/Selection of Settlers and Infrastructure Development; 3) Adaptation period; 4) Economic and Social Development; and 5) transfer of responsibilities and control over the resources of the resettlement and decision making from the organizers to the settlers themselves. Settlers resorted to any of the following to cope with the changes in their environment: a) diversify their incomes to meet their basic needs; b) increase family support through sharing of responsibilities; c) rely on community support for credit assistance and guidance conselling; d) depend on NGOs [nongovernmental organizations]/GOs [government organizations] support for the availability and maintenance of educational, health, and recreational facilities in the resettlement site; and e) rely on the church (Iglesia nin Christo]} for solace and security
