During the dry season, limited crops are being planted in the Ilocos owing to limited water supply for irrigation. Most farmers, however, use ground water for irrigation through the use of pumps. Pumping water is relatively expensive, hence studies on irrigation timing was conducted and verified in farmers fields. The verification trial was conducted in Aracua, Batac, Ilocos Norte. Irrigating at 10 days interval produced higher yield (3,136 kg/ha) of corn than that irrigated at 14 days interval (3,269 kg/ha). However, a net income of P 13,392 was realized when irrigation was applied at 14 days interval with a return on investment (ROI) of 39.80. The water use effeciency, which is expressed in yield per unit volume of water of glutinous corn, was 1 kg/cum for the 10 days interval and 1.21 kg/cum for the 14 days interval.
