Chlamydospores and azygospores of VAM fungi forming mycorrhiza on cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) roots were isolated from cotton rhizospere soil collected from different regions in Hubei Province using traping and single-spore culture. On the basis of the micromorphological characteristics of spores, six species were identified and named. Glomus mosseae (Nicol.and Gerd.) Gerd. and Trappe, G. intraradices Schenck and Smith, G. hoi Berch and Trappe, G. albidum var. Qianjiang (Walker and Rhodes) Wang P. and Z.M.Q., G. ambisporum II Smith and Schenck and G. geosporum (Nicol. and Gerd.). The latter four species were first observed in China.
