The widespread use of antimicrobials in both human and veterinary medicine has intensified, leading toan acceleration in the emergence and spread of AMR. On average, animals in European farms consumemore antibiotics than humans. According to studies, pork has the highest concentration of antibiotics.According to estimates in the literature, the amount of antibiotic for veterinary use consumed worldwideby livestock is almost double that for human use. This article presents with recent data the effects ofantimicrobial use, the economic as well as the social impact of resistance.
