Concept and Development Proposal of Blue Carbon Industry

Marine economy has become an essential economic growth driver in China. The importance of promoting the low-carbon development of marine economy has become increasingly prominent. This paper was based on the broad research field of blue carbon, and innovatively proposed the concept of blue carbon industry in the direction of the integration of marine carbon sinks and industries. The blue carbon industry is designed to develop an industrial model oriented to the carbon sinks enhancement and a low-carbon approach to development. It aims to promote the integration of blue carbon sink with marine economy, ecological restoration, clean energy and other fields. This paper also defined the categories of blue carbon industry and proposed the development path of blue carbon industry from four directions, helping to create a new highlight for the high-quality development of the marine industry.
