Caracterização de vagens e sementes de soja Characterization of soybean legumes and seeds

O estudo de caracterização de cultivares de soja tem por finalidade registrar o maior número possível de elementos que identifiquem as cultivares, para que se possa reconhecer e aproveitar com eficiência o germoplasma disponível. No entanto, as informações dispersas, nem sempre completas, dificultam o trabalho de vistorias nas lavouras e/ou análises em laboratório e impedem a determinação da qualidade das sementes. Com o objetivo de facilitar a identificação em soja, caracterizou-se vagens e sementes de 22 cultivares indicadas para cultivo no RS. As sementes foram produzidas no Centro de Pesquisas em Sementes da FEPAGRO, no munícipio de Júlio de Castilhos, na safra 1995/96. Nas vagens foram descritos o perfil, forma do dente apical, comprimento médio, cor da vagem e da pubescência, número de sementes e percentagem de vagens com 1,2 e 3 sementes. Nas sementes, descreveu-se a cor e o brilho do tegumento, cor do hilo, tamanho, reação da peroxidase e cor do hipocótilo. As características estudadas variaram em função dos genótipos, indicando que as diferenças detectadas somente podem ser usadas de modo complementar para a identificação visual em soja. A cor da pubescência, do hilo e do hipocótilo, juntamente com a reação da peroxidase são as características mais úteis para a distinção de cultivares de soja.<br>The soybean cultivar characterization is important to distinguish a cultivar and to use efficiently all the genetic variability. The cultivar not well characterized difficults its identification in the field and its analyses in the laboratory. The legumes and seeds of 22 soybean cultivars indicated to Rio Grande do Sul (RS) were characterized with the objective of facilitating their identification. The seeds were suplyed by the FEPAGRO Research Station located in Júlio de Castilhos-RS, in the 1995/96 season. The legumes were characterized by the profile, form of the extremity, average length, legume and pubescence color, number of seeds and the percentage of legumes with 1,2 and 3 seeds. The seeds were characterized by the color and brightness of tegument, hilum color, size, peroxidase reaction and hypocotyl color. The studied characteristics changed with the cultivar indicating that the differences could be used only to complement the visual identification. The pubescense color of the legumes, hilum color and peroxidase reaction in seeds and hypocotyl color in seedling are the best characteristics to visual distinguish the soybean cultivars.
