Problems of population viability

Problems of population viability are discussed. Its individual and group characteristics are presented. Species are selected that are endangered to extinction in highlands of the Carpathians. They require more precise study from the viability point of view in order to design methods of their conservation. The program of population viability study is proposed and the threating factors are discussed.
