Overview of China's Marine Early Warning and Monitoring Work Progress Under Global Climate Change

In the context of global climate change, marine disasters such as storm surges and sea waves have become increasingly variable and strong. The phenomena of rising sea levels, El Niño/La Niña, ocean acidification, and hypoxia have become increasingly obvious, which have added difficulties to marine disaster prevention and ecological protection work. The paper provides an overview of the latest progress in the field of marine early warning and monitoring since the establishment of the Ministry of Natural Resources in 2018. The paper summarizes the achievements in marine forecast and early warning, disaster prevention and reduction, marine response to climate change, coastal zone ecological protection and restoration, and marine ecological early warning and monitoring. The paper proposes ideas of improving marine disaster early warning and refined services, marine ecological protection and restoration, and marine ecological early warning and monitoring in the future.
