The trial was organized with 23 lines selected for earliness at ICRISAT Center, India, an early maturing control variety, and a local control variety. Based on mean performance across locations and the stability analysis ICGV 86055, ICGV 86061, and ICGV 86105 were identified as high yielders and stable in their performance. Majority of the lines were as early as or even earlier than the local variety. Chico had the highest shelling percentage across locations and ICGV 86042, ICGV 86056 and ICGV 86061 equalled Chico in their across-location mean shelling percentage
