This article focuses on the utilization of wild relatives of pigeonpea and chickpea as sources of resistance to Helicoverpa armigera, with emphasis on interspecific hybridization to transfer genes conferring resistance from wild relatives belonging to compatible gene pool as well as interspecific hybridization using incompatible wild species.
