Liquid manure treatment with copper ions (OLIGOLYSIS)
1986
Mueller, W. (Hohenheim Univ., Stuttgart (Germany, F.R.). Inst. fuer Tiermedizin und Tierhygiene)
The procedure uses the known "oligodynamic effect" of copper ions. The following effects were observed: 1. Deodorization of the manure, while storage and spreading onto the ground and also days after spraying. Lower gas production, which leads directly to lower losses of nitrogen during storage time. 2. Homogenic storage mostly without swimming layers on the surface in the case of cattle manure. Easy and total homogenisation of the sinkparts of swine manure. 3. Lowering of the "caustic effect" of manure to plants. 4. In laboratory investigations killing of Salmonella within three weeks depending on the origin of the treated manure.
