The complex of symbovine dipteres in a pastureland in North Germany is composed of 50 species of the families Ceratopogonidae (6 species), Culicidae (7 species), Hippoboscidae (2 species), Muscidae ((14 species), Simuliidae (1 species) and Tabanidae (20 species). The pastureland was evaluated for sufficient resources of the larvae of different groups of dipteres. Cattle serve as a main resource of imaginal dipteres, characterizing them as symbovine species. Composition and population density of species are decided by accomplish1169ment of species-specific life demands for the resources, influenced by a multiplicity of ecologically operative factors as topography, climatic conditions, vegetation, parasites, parasitoids and anthropogenic cha
