1990
Haagvar, E.B. (Aas Univ. (Norway). Dept. of Zoology) | Hofsvang, T.
Females of the aphid parasitoid Ephedrus cerasicola Stary were provided a daily average of 80 1st - 3rd instar Myzus persicae (Sulzer) at 21 degrees C. All the aphids were dissected and the eggs and larvae of the parasitoid were counted. The parasitoid female had an average longevity of 18.0 days and fecundity of 961 eggs. Females oviposited throughout their lives with the most intensive egg laying period the first 13 days. The intrinsic rate of increase, r, was 0.29 females per female per day (sex ratio 1:1 males to females). Species within the genus Ephedrus seem to have a very high fecundity compared with other genera of Aphidiidae
