The use of modern technology supports the realization of an environmentally responsible land use. The co-operation of planning-software, positioning-system and on-board computer can be the base of site-specific farming. The article describes the development of the software to connect these parts to a concept for site-specific application of fertilizers. The use of the Differential Global Positioning System allows the partition of fields into parts of different nutrient requirements. The software transfers data of the on-board computer, which directs the quantity of fertilizer during the application. The developed software and technology is used by the machinery syndicate 'MBR Trier-Saarburg' because the costs for the system are too expensive for an individual farmer in this region
