Puellen, P. (Rhone-Poulenc Agro G.m.b.H., Koeln (Germany)) | Machefer, G. | Nauheim, P.
Flurtamone is a new herbicide belonging to the chemical group furanone. The spectrum of efficacy is Apera spica-venti and a wide range of other weeds. Combinations of Flurtamone with other herbicides showed improved efficacy and broadened the spectrum. In Germany the registration process for the SC-formulation RPA 30930 H is underway for winter cereals. This formulation contains 250 g/l Flurtamone and 100 g/l Diflufenican, the dose rate is 1 l/ha. RPA 30930 H can be applied pre- and early post-emergence in autumn. In first trials it showed good selectivity and a good control of Apera spica-venti and dicot weeds including Galium aparine. Other Flurtamone-containing products for use in cereals are currently being evaluated and others for potatoes, sun flowers and peas will begin testing from 1994
