Hauptunterschiede zwischen Schafen und Ziegen waren hoehere Gehalte an Phosphat, Chlorid und Protein bei den Ziegen, waehrend der Bicarbonat-Gehalt und die Pufferkapazitaet bei Schafen hoeher war. Der Submandibular-Speichel enthielt weniger Phosphat und Bicarbonat als der Parotisspeichel und damit eine geringere Pufferkapazitaet.
