Crown condition in Bavaria - the influence of biotic diseases
1997
Schmidt, O.
The condition of forest trees can be assessed by a visual survey of tree crowns. However, it is almost impossible to determine the cause of damage. After appropriate training and practice, a visual survey would, however, suffice in ruling out biotoc disease as the cause. The 1997 inventory results of the Bavarian survey on the condition of its forests revealed that biotic diseases had little effect. The data accumulated on needle and leaf loss showed that only a slight percentage of the damage had been caused by insects.
