German. Darmtraegheit und Verstopfung sind weit verbreitet. Die Frage nach Verdauungsbeschwerden bejahen in Deutschland 25 Prozent der Frauen und 11 Prozent der Maenner. Haeufigste Ursachen sind ballaststoffarmes, fettreiches Essen, Stress und Bewegungsarmut. Statt dieses Verhalten zu aendern, erhoffen Betroffene Abhilfe durch die Verwendung von Abfuehrmitteln. Regelmaessig eingenommen und kontinuierlich hoeher dosiert, koennen Abfuehrmittel Stoerungen des Elektrolyt- und Saeure-Basen-Haushalts sowie Malabsorption zur Folge haben.
