Recently, it was reported that actinomycetes Fb352 possessed antagonistic activity against Aureobasidium pullulans and Hormonea dematodes (Bezert et al. 1996). This property can advantageously used for the elaboration of a new preservation treatment of wood against blue stain fungi. However, a question needed to be asked: will such a treatment degrade wood components ? -Three methods (weight loss, ultrasonic and compression strength) were used for the evaluation of degradationof wood treated with actinomycetes.
