Flow structure at the junction of four supercritical channel flows | Structure des écoulements à la jonction de quatre canaux en régime torrentiel

French. Les écoulements à la jonction de quatre canaux en régime torrentiel ont été étudiés par des approches théoriques, expérimentales et numériques. L`écoulement étudié ici se compose d`un ressaut oblique à la jonction et d`un ressaut droit dans la branche amont minoritaire de la jonction. De plus, la présence d`un bourrelet, de deux zones de recirculation et d`un plan de séparation a été observée. Le champ de hauteur d`eau a alors été mesuré de manière précise pour une telle configuration afin de produire une base de donnée destinée à valider les capacités de notre modèle numérique 2D à simuler de tels écoulements. Enfin, un modèle analytique basé sur la loi de conservation de la quantité de mouvement a été mis en place afin de prédire la répartition des écoulements dans les deux branches aval et a été validé à partir de données expérimentales non présentées dans ce papier.

English. Supercritical flow in a 4 branch channel intersection has been studied theoretically, experimentally and numerically. The flow configuration investigated here consists of one oblique jump in the junction and one normal jump in an upstream branch, along with a deflection line, one eddying zone and two recirculation zones. The water depths have been measured rather precisely at 580 points in the junction, to provide a data base for testing theoretical and numerical models. We develop an analytical model based on the momentum equation, which predicts the angle of the oblique jump and the deflection angle for the flow. The predictions are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data. The flow being well known, the capacities of a 2D model to simulate this flow are tested. It appears that the computed flow structures are similar to the observed flow features even though some discrepancies appear concerning the shapes of these structures.
