French. Ce travail a eu pour objectif l’étude des transferts et transformation de l’azote lors du traitement aérobie de déchets organiques dont des digestats. Ces travaux ont montré que la minéralisation de l’azote organique était le principal contributeur du pool d’azote ammoniacal et qu’elle pouvait être estimée à partir de la connaissance de la biodégradabilité en compostage du déchet et de ses teneurs en azote et carbone. Le taux de stripage est également corrélé négativement avec celui de nitrification. Ainsi les pertes en azote sont étroitement corrélées au pool d’azote ammoniacal. La promotion de la nitrification est de fait une voie de réduction des émissions d’ammoniac. Le suivi de la nitrification a montré que celle-ci se produisait majoritairement en période de maturation lors du traitement aérobie d’ordures ménagères résiduelles et de boues digérées. Le développement des bactéries oxydantes de l’ammoniac était étroitement corrélé au flux de nitrification tout au long du traitement aérobie. La communauté des microorganismes oxydant l’ammoniac était dominée par le cluster Nitrosomonas europaea/eutropha. Bien que l’incorporation à des OMR de boues activées a stimulé l’oxydation de l’ammoniac en début de traitement, ce flux d’oxydation a rapidement décru pour croître de nouveau en période de maturation. L’abondance des bactéries oxydantes de l’ammoniac a décru durant la période de biodégradation intense pour, elle aussi, croître significativement en période de maturation. Une évolution dans la communauté des bactéries oxydantes de l’ammoniac, depuis les Nitrosomonas oligotropha vers les Nitrosomonas europaea/eutropha et les Nitrosomonas nitrosa, explique les variations observées de leur abondance. L’étude de l’impact de la présence de matière organique biodégradable a montré l’inhibition de l’oxydation de l’ammoniac par l’activité hétérotrophe de biodégradation. Cette inhibition rend compte de l’absence de nitrification en période de biodégradation intense lors du traitement aérobie des déchets organiques.

English. (trad auto)The objective of this work was to study the transfer and transformation of nitrogen during the aerobic treatment of organic waste, including digestates. This work showed that organic nitrogen mineralization was the main contributor to the ammonia nitrogen pool and could be estimated on the basis of knowledge of the biodegradability of the waste and its nitrogen and carbon contents in composting. The stripping rate is also negatively correlated with the nitrification rate. Thus nitrogen losses are closely correlated to the ammonia nitrogen pool. The promotion of nitrification is in fact a way of reducing ammonia emissions. Monitoring of nitrification showed that it occurred mainly during the maturation period during the aerobic treatment of residual household waste and digested sludge. The development of ammonia oxidizing bacteria was closely correlated with nitrification flow throughout the aerobic treatment. The community of ammonia oxidizing microorganisms was dominated by the Nitrosomonas europaea/eutropha cluster. Although the incorporation of activated sludge into SRMs stimulated the oxidation of ammonia at the beginning of the treatment, this oxidation flow decreased rapidly and increased again during the maturation period. The abundance of oxidizing ammonia bacteria decreased during the period of intense biodegradation and also increased significantly during the maturation period. An evolution in the community of ammonia oxidizing bacteria from oligotrophic Nitrosomonas to europaea/eutropha and nitrosa Nitrosomonas explains the observed variations in their abundance. The study of the impact of the presence of biodegradable organic matter showed the inhibition of ammonia oxidation by heterotrophic biodegradation activity. This inhibition reflects the absence of nitrification during periods of intense biodegradation during aerobic treatment of organic waste.
