French. Le charriage torrentiel est un mode de transport de sédiments que l'on rencontre dans les cours d'eau à fortes pentes. II présente certaines analogies, mais aussi beaucoup de différences caractéristiques, avec le transport solide par charriage dans les rivières à faible pente. L'établissement de formules, permettant d'évaluer ces transports solides torrentiels intenses, est relativement récente. Ces formules, établies dans le prolongement des formules de transport solide en rivière, comportent encore une marge d'incertitude importante.
Show more [+] Less [-]English. Torrential bedload is a sediment transport mode occurring in steeply sloped channels. It shows some analogies, but also many characteristic differences with the bedload transport occurring in plain rivers. The establishment of formulae, that allow the quantitative description of these intense torrential sediment transports is quite recent. Such formulae are developed in the extrapolation of solid transport formulae available for rivers, and they still show a certain uncertainty range.
