The present rules in the Code on the gender of generic nameshave their origin in Art. 76 of the Berlin Code (Greuter & al. inRegnum Veg. 118. 1988), resulting from a proposal by a SpecialCommittee on Orthography to replace the previous recommendationson the appropriate gender for such names (Demoulin & Nicolson inTaxon 35: 794–803. 1986).
