Guyana Rainforest Project: site description report

Document is a Site Description Report by the Guyanese Counterpart Technical Team. The report is based on an offer made by Guyana Head of Government at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on the subject of Environment and Climatic Change to set aside part of Guyana's Amazon Tropical Forest for a pilot project. The aim of this project is to "study utilization of the forest, on a sustainable basis, and conservation of species". The Commonwealth Leaders accepted the offer by the Head of Government and mandated the Commonwealth Secretary General to organise a high level exploratory mission to pursue the offer.
