The mollusca wood borers, normally found in Indonesia sea waters, are divided into two types, i.e. Pholadidae and Teredinidae. Both types have different characteristic in nature of infestation to wood. The study was conducted at Rambut Island seashore (Java sea) using wood samples measuring 30 cm by 5.0 cm by 2.5 cm. The samples were randomly arranged at a raft and observed after six months. The result revealed that after six months most of the samples were completely attacked by Martesia striata Linne of the Pholadidae family, Teredo bartchi Clapp, Dicyanthifer manni Wright and Bankia cieba Clench/Turner of the Teredinidae family. However moderate borers infestation was shown by Hopea dolosa V.SI., Parinari corimbosa Miq., Homalium foetidum Benth., Vitex parviflora Juss., Intsia bijuga O. Ktze. and Diospyros celebica Bakh., which means that those species were relatively resistant to marine borers infestation. Meanwhile, the infestation types of Pholadidae and Teredinidae were significantly different and they had different characteristic
