[Zinc availability in soil and its influencing factors]

English. The objective of this experiment was to determine the relationship of two soil test methods for Zn, i.e. 0.01 M EDTA + 1 M(NH4)2CO3 and 0,1 NHCl with the factors of available Zn in soil. Nine soil samples were used in this study. Composite soil samples were collected from plow layer (0-30 cm depth) at nine different locations in Yogyakarta area, represented of Inceptisols, Alfisols and Vertisols. The results showed that two soil test methods were affected by soil properties which controlled Zn availability in the soil. Available Zn EDTA was significantly correlated with soil pH, clay content, CaCO3, available P and available Cu whereas available ZnHCl was significantly correlated with total Zn only. General conclusion of this study is that EDTA is the best method for extracting available Zn comparing with HCl

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan ketepatan metode uji tanah untuk Zn yaitu metode 0,01 M EDTA + 1M (NH4)2CO3 dan metode 0,1 NHCl dengan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi ketersediaan Zn dalam tanah. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan 9 contoh tanah komposit yang mewakili Inceptisol, Alfisol dan Vertisol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode uji tanah Zn dipengaruhi oleh sifat tanah yang mengendalikan ketersediaan Zn dalam tanah. Zn tersedia ekstraksi EDTA mempunyai hubungan yang nyata dengan pH dan kandungan lempung tanah, sedang Zn tersedia ekstraksi HCl hanya berkorelasi nyata dengan Zn total tanah. Metode 0,01 M EDTA + 1 M (NH4)2CO3 lebih dapat mengungkapkan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi ketersediaan Zn dalam tanah dibanding metode 0,1 NHCl
