2003
Hadiati, S.,Balai Penelitian Tanaman Buah, Solok (Indonesia)
Research about relationship and genetic distance among pineapple accession based on quantitative characters was conducted at experimental farm of Solok Research Institute for Fruits, from January 2001 to February 2002. The objective of the research was to know the relationship and genetic distance among pineapple accessions based on quantitative characters. The average taxonomic distance was used to determine genetic distance. The results indicated that there were two clone groups with large genetics distance at 1.95 taxonomic distance. The first group (A) consisted of accessions which delicious fruit taste (Merah, Hijau, Queen, and Cayenne clones), and the second group (B) consisted of accessions which not delicious fruit taste (Merah pagar clone). The furthest of taxonomic distance (2.708) occurred between 45 accession numbers (Merah pagar clone) with 26 accession numbers (Cayenne clone). In hybridization, using parents which have far genetic distance should produce higher or broad genetic variabilities and higher heterosis effect, so the more possibility to get superior variety
