This study is devoted to the concept, methods and criteria of measuring efficiency in agriculture. The study is based on empirical studies of the Dept. of Agricultural Economics Research, Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki. In particular, the efficiency of the main types of farms and enterprises of Greek agriculture is measured. The measurement take place both in the average farms and according some factors e.g. size, time, subsidies have a positive effect on the efficiency, a) farm enterprises are generally efficient, b) during the last ten years the efficiency of farm enterprises increased, c) under the present technology of farm production, a potential increase of farm outpout would be 15.0% when the efficiency reaches the maximum level.
