Influence of maternal antibody and age of calves on effective vaccination against Leptospira interrogans serovar hardjo [cattle]
1991
Palit, A. | Middleton, H. | Sheers, J. | Basilone, C. (Commonwealth Serum Lab., Parkville (Australia))
Calves born from 12 cows were vaccinated at 1-6 months with L. interrogans serovars hardjo and pomona vaccine in the presence of serovar specific, maternally-derived antibodies and subsequently challenged with virulent serovar hardjo type Hardjobovis. All immunized calves were protected, regardless of their age or maternally-derived antibody titres: calves as young as 4 weeks old were fully protected.
