Costs and benefits are estimated for a representative 2000 hectare paddock, based on anecdotal and survey evidence. Cash flows over a 20-years period indicate that the practice is profitable; however, managers should carefully assess the maximum area that short-term cash- flows will allow to be burnt at a given time.
