The low tolerance of Stylosanthes species to sulphur deficiency [fertilizer requirements]
1989
Gilbert, M.A. | Shaw, K.A. (Queensland Dept. of Primary Industries, Mareeba (Australia))
In glasshouse and field experiments, cultivars of 5 Stylosanthes species were grown at a range of sulfur levels. There were no differences between legumes in yield without added S, but in the glasshouse with added S, differences appeared in yield, S concentration and S uptake. The amount of applied S at 90 percent of total yield was similar for all, but critical requirements were different, and inversely related to yield. It is concluded that there is little difference in tolerance to S deficiency within Stylosanthes.
