The effect of copper supply on vegetative and seed yield of pasture legumes and the field calibration of a tissue test for detecting copper deficiency, 2. Strawberry clover (Trifolium fragiferum L.)
1989
McFarlane, J.D. (South Australian Dept. of Agriculture, Naracoorte)
On a Cu-deficient alkaline peat, 7 rates of Cu were applied pre-sowing. Visible deficiency symptoms were shown only in untreated plots. Seed yield was more responsive to Cu applications than was vegetative growth. Proposed critical ranges for Cu concentration in the youngest open leaf are lower in the spring than at other times; and similarly with whole top tissue when predicting seed yield, though not for diagnosing maximum vegetative biomass. All critical ranges were below accepted levels for animal nutrition.
