Plants in 4 cohorts were recorded over 3.5 years. Only 11 percent survived more than one season; only 28 percent of all plants flowered, 5 percent in more than 2 seasons. As a preliminary conclusion, E. purpurascens should be regarded as predominantly annual, but a facultative perennial in local conditions
