Trace element deficiency in sheep in East Gippsland, Victoria. [Short contribution]
1992
Holmes, J.H.G. (Melbourne Univ., Parkville (Australia). School of Agriculture and Forestry)
A trial was conducted on Merino sheep grazing native pastures on soils considered deficient in Se, Cu and Co, unless fertilized. While supplementation demonstrated a deficiency of Se, a single treatment had little effect on mortality or growth over 5 months. Cu or Co supplements failed to give a positive response. The results demonstrated the difficulties of diagnosis of marginal deficiencies of trace elements.
