During the oestrous cycle, only total protein in uterine secretions was different between the breeds, tending to be higher in the Large White gilts. However during pregnancy, glucose, fructose, sodium, immunoglobulin A, PGF, PGE, and acyl aminopeptidase were all greater in gilts of the prolific breed. The results suggest that Meishan conceptuses are more stimulatory to endometrial secretion or transport into the uterine lumen, or that the endometrium is more sensitive to conceptus signals.
