Alternatives to herbicides
1989
Morgan, W.C. (Victorian Dept. of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Frankston (Australia). Vegetable Research Station)
Public opinion has led to reassessment of weed control methods to eliminate or reduce the use of chemicals. A number of alternatives to herbicides are outlined and discussed in terms of their advantages and disadvantages and practicalities. Whilst examples exist of each of the alternative methods of weed control they are few and usually weed specific. The need to develop weed management strategies using all available alternatives is recommended whilst recognizing that there is still a need for efficient chemical weed control.
