Evaluation of different indices for developing an insecticide application schedule against Euchrysops cnejus (Fab.) infesting mungbeen [Bangladesh]
1989
Rahman, M.M.
In an experiment conducted at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Joydebpur, Bangladesh during kharif-11,1987, the rate of oviposition and flower infestation by Euchrysops cnejus (Fab) in mungbean were found to increase with the advances in flowering stage. The protection offered by two sprays of fenitrothon O.1% was equivalent to that of three sprays simply due to thde adjustment in time of application based on the level of initial source of infestation i.e, the egg numbers. Thus the schedule in which the 1st spray was applied either at egg number around 5/2-meter crop row(0.21 egg/plant) or at flowering and the 2nd spray applied either at an interval of 15 days or at podding offered the best protection of flowers, pods and grain yield loss againt E.cnejus and also resulted in higher benefit cost ratio. Any spray in between was simly a misuse.
