Physio-morphology and yield of different Ash gourd (Benincasa hispida Cong.) lines [in Bangladesh]
1989
Hamid, M.M. | Sana, M.C. | Begum, R.A.
Nine local germplasms of Ash gourd were evaluated primarily for earliness and high yield during 1985 and 1986. A wide range of variability exists among the lines in respect of their vine growth, flowering habit, fruit bearing, weight and size. All the lines produced edible green fruits within 71-100 days in 1st year and 80-123 days in 2nd year after sowing. The lines AG0002 and AG0005 were found early with medium yield while AG0008 and AG0009 were late with higher yield. The fruit yield widely ranged from 6.93 to 19.07 t/ha, the lowest being in AG0004 and highest being in AG0009.
