[Effect of Trenbolone acetate + oestradiol 17B and salt addition on some blood parameters in steers under confinement (feedlot)]
1991
Alvarez C, Cristian Gonzalo
In order to evaluate the effect of trenbolone acetate + oestradiol 17B and addition of mineral supplementation on some biochemical blood parameters, 36 Friesian steers of 12 months of age under feedlot were used. The steers were distributed entirely at random into three groups each one with 12 animals and had the following treatments: Group 1: Control, untreated. Group 2: Treated, implant with trenbolone acetate + oestradiol 17B. Group 3: Treated, implant with trenbolone acetate + oestradiol 17B and mineral supplementation. The blood values of packet cell volume, glucose, total proteins, albumin, globulins and BUN, were determined throughout a 120 days period sampling every 60 days. No significant differences were observed in blood concentration of packet cell volume, albumin and BUN, between treated and untreated groups. Blood glucose concentration showed significant variations in the sixty days of the trial. Total proteins and globulins levels showed significant variations in 60 and 120 days of the trial. There was no lineal correlations between weight gain and studied blood parameters
