The study investigated the effect of of split N application on wheat grain yield. The experiment was conducted for three seasons at Jamalpur, Bangladesh. There were six treatments, each consisting of a total of 100 kg N/ha. Averaged over the three seasons, grain yield was not different when N was applied at sowing, from when N was split between a basal application and topdressing(s). Top-dressing without a basal application reduced grain yield significantly. The treatment involving top-dressing at grain-filling stage gave thje lowest yield
