Phosphorus sources for loamless substrates
1980
Bunt, A.C. (Glasshouse Crops Research Inst., Littlehampton (UK))
Several traditional fertilisers and some of recent introduction were examined as possible sources of slow-release phosphorus in loamless substrates. Bonemeal, Gafsa ground rock phosphate and Morocco granular phosphate supported only low rates of uptake by grass tissue and did not show any significant slow-release characteristics. Magnesium ammonium phosphates in granular formation, i.e. 'Magamp' and 'Enmag', had a low initial loss from the substrate by leaching and also had good slow-release properties. Potassium metaphosphate in granular formation had the best characteristics for use a a slow-release phosphorus source in loamless potting substrates
