Hookworms anaemia (ancylostoma caninum and trichuris vulpis) in the dog. 1: Relationship between hemoglobin value and worm load

From the statistical point of view an highly significant relationship between hemoglobin value and the number of eggs/g of feces has been found either in dogs with Anchylostomiasis caninum, or with Trichuris vulpis infection and in those affected by both infections. It seems also necessary that the infection reach a minimal intensity (over 1,000 eggs/g of feces) before the mean hemoglobin value falls down.

Les auteurs ont trouve une correlation tres significative entre le valeur de l'hemoglobine et le nombre d'oeufs pour gramme de selles chez des chiens atteints oit de Ankilostomiase que le Trichocephalose soit des infestations mixte. On a aussi constate que c'est necesaire une infestation d'intensite minime (plus de 1,000 oeufs/g de selles) pour une maisse de la moyenne de l'hemoglobine.

Italian. Gli AA. hanno studiato statisticamente il rapporto emoglobina/carica parassitaria. E' stata trovata una correlazione altamente significativa fra tasso di emoglobina e numera di uova per g. di feci sia nei cani parassitati da Ancylostomi, sia in quelli da Trichuris, sia in quelli con infestione mista. E' stato anche evidenziato che e necessaria una infestione di minima intensita (oltre 1,000 uova/g di feci) prima che la media della emoglobina cominci a scendere.
