Energy saving on dairy farms
1981
Gaast, G. van der (Consulentschap voor Melkwinning, Melkhygiene en Boerenkaasbereiding, Wageningen (Netherlands))
In combination with the cooling of milk at the dairy farm energy can be saved in two ways. By pre-cooling a saving of 40% on electrical power can be attained in the cooling process. And, in comparison to normal energy demand for heating water for cleaning purposes, a saving of 60% is possible by using a heatpump together with the cooling engine of the bulk-tank. However, it is important to do proper calculations before decisions are taken as to equipment to be installed.
