We present a methodology for using the divergence as a goal function for the control and on-line optimization of batch chemical reactors and indicate how it can be implemented by only measuring the reactor and jacket temperatures. This methodology allows maximizing production under safer operating conditions and it can easily be extended to SBRs and CSTRs.
